Bestor Fountain in Chautaqua Istitution located on the center of The Bestor Plaza, Chautaqua NY, built in 1946.

Original design by sculptor Fred M. Torrey of the Lorado Taft Midway Studios in Chicago.

80 years later it needed major restoration work.

The base reliefs with 4 figures were in good condition. But the deteriorated precast concrete ziggurat top and fluted sides were deteriorated. We removed them and replaced with hand carved copies of Indiana Limestone Gray. We think that Indiana Limestone will last longer in the environment than concrete cast. We restored the sculptures of the fishes and dove on the corners of the fountain and did the crack injections on the fountain walls.
