WINNER of the 2025 Chicago Landmark Award for Preservation Excellence

The Historic Cleveland Façade was built in Joliet Limestone and Gray Sandstone.
Joliet Limestone was in good condition but the Gray Sandstone were deteriorated and covered with cement stucco.

We removed, piece by piece, 110 Gray Sandstones and replaced with Indiana Limestone! This was an enormous accomplishment!

I carved new brackets and keystones inspired by the original stones on the job site. There was one decorative hand carved original keystone, parts of the brackets, and elements under the balcony stone that survived over time that I used for reference.

We restored the Joliet Limestone with JAHN Restoration Mortar.
