The Historic Roman Bricks and Red Sandstone Façade was covered by Veins over the decades and dirty with smoke and pollution.

The Red Sandstone base course, string courses, and windows frames of the building was deteriorated.

The stones on the plinth measured over 12 inches thick – We decided to keep the original and resurface them. We removed about 3/4” thick layer of deteriorated stone to get to the healthy stone. After straightening up and smoothing out the new surface, we replicated the texture with Bush Hammer Chisel. This was a slow and tedious process! One person could texture about 4-6 sqft of the surface per day. Which was done on site on the vertically installed stones!
We replaced 3 lines of the string courses with Indiana Limestone and removed deteriorated sandstone. Original sandstone quarra is closed – so we used Indiana Limestone instead. After installation, we stained the Limestone with Mineral KEIM to match the sandstone color.
